With TikTok seemingly outperforming Instagram in recent months, the latter is now getting the show on the road to stay ahead of the game. The platform has rolled out a new feature to drive its community of creators, predominantly the younger generation, back into its old home.
Instagram is giving TikTok a run for its money with the launch of Reels, a TikTok-esque built-in feature on the photo and video sharing platform. This functionality allows you to record and share creatively entertaining short-form videos with ease.
All the attributes of TikTok are cloned into Reels. Assuming that this is available in your country, you can find it by opening the camera icon at the top-left corner of your screen and it will direct you to the Stories camera interface. At the bottom you can see Reels along with Live and Stories options.
It has features such as a miscellany of songs from the Instagram music library (not available in the UAE at the moment) or make your own audio through recording. You can add camera filters and effects, manipulate audio-video speed, set timers and countdowns to enable you to create content with no assistance.
Another good news is, the content you create here are not ephemeral. In fact, there’s a dedicated section on your main feed where you can publish your videos permanently for all your followers to see whenever. Users can view full-screen, sound-on videos that last anywhere from three to 15 seconds.
Instagram Reels' claim to fame will grow more apparent in the coming weeks. In fact, brands like Louis Vuitton and Sephora are already going viral with hundreds of thousands and millions of views generated through using the feature.
Add a whole touch of excitement, authenticity, and spontaneous creativity to your content by conjuring some magic tricks through Instagram Reels.
